There's a place
That I know
It's not pretty there
And few have ever gone
If I show it to you now
Will it make you run away?
Or will you stay?
Even if it hurts?
Even if I try to push you out
Will you return?
And remind me who I really am
Please remind me who I really am

Azula was hesitant about taking Jet to see her father.
Ozai had destroyed so many before finally snapping and being sent to the rehabilitation facility, and Jet was a force of justice if nothing else. How would Jet react to her criminal father who left shuddering victims in his wake everywhere he went? Her criminal father, who Azula still loved and still respe

In his opinion, she was bugshit crazy. Then again, many people would say the same of him.
But she was always calm and collected, always ready with a plan or a come-back or a well-placed fist. He had to admit that he really liked that about her, even though half of her back-up plans included him taking the fall and half of those plans included him dying. It was unpredictable, like a forest fire, and just as dangerous, but maybe that was what drew him to her. Moth to flame, and all that.
"So I was thinking about sanity today," she said when he walked in.
Jet grinned and tossed his bag of wares onto the kitchen table. Azula gave them a brief
Azula looked up from the fastidious contemplation of her nails when her front door was kicked in.
"I must say, Zuzu, you've gotten impossibly more uncouth," she said, smirking up at her brother.
"Where. Is. He?"
"You ought to be more specific, Fire Lord Zuko."
Zuko blew out a cloud of steam, then took a few deep breaths to calm himself. "Where is Jet?"
"I wouldn't know. I'm not his keeper." Azula offered him a moon peach. "Care to sit with me?"
Zuko smacked the fruit out of her hand and pointed at her imperiously. "I know he's skulking around here somewhere, Azula."
"I wasn't aware that you enjoyed wanton cruelty against moon peaches,
Toph was woozy from the tea Katara had forced down her throat. She couldn't feel her face. Which was hilarious.
She choked out a laugh.
"She's awake!" she heard someone cry, and a hand found hers, clutching desperately. "Toph? Can you hear me?"
"Duh," Toph snapped, struggling to sit up. She was forced back down. "Oh, get the hell offa me, The Duke."
"You should lay down," he said, his voice raw. "You were really hurt."
"I'm fine," she snarled, grabbing his wrist and shoving him away. She sat up and instantly regretted it. She felt her stomach lurch up into her throat, and she let The Duke ease her back onto her pillows. "I think I'll jus

Azula's grip on the wire fumbled when she heard a small cough behind her. "Lose your keys?"
She straightened up and turned, raising her eyebrows and quirking her lips into a smirk. "You could say that."
Jet's smile widened into that crazy grin of his. She adored that grin, how vivid and deadly it seemed. He was lighter than Mai, darker than Ty Lee -- something very much like Azula herself. "Need a hand?"
Azula handed her instruments over and stepped aside. "Be my guest."
Jet stepped forward and slid the wires down through the window opening. Azula leaned gently against the car, keeping an eye on the rest of the parking lot.
"You know, yo

Modern AtLA -- Toph's Room
Toph's room was done up like a music store. Bins of records were shoved into every corner, and the shelves had lines of CDs and tapes rather than movies or books. The white closet door had her friends' names carved into it, and her white dresser had a scorch mark on the surface from one of Zuko's cigarettes. That dresser had several different music players, from a record player to an ipod dock. On a shelf above her dresser was a line of birthday cards -- the kind that you could leave a recording of your voice in. They were arranged first by friend, then by year -- Toph spent a lot of time opening up Sokka's and listening to his dorky birthday
It was supposed to be an easy conversation.
Oyaji was going to tell his daughter about the duty she had to her people, and that she needed to put aside her own selfish urges and make the betterment of Kyoshi Island her first priority. She would understand -- Suki had always been mild and dutiful when the need arose, and she had such a level head. She would see that he had her best interests at heart, and she would listen calmly to what he had to say. That was what always happened, and thus it was what he always expected.
He did not expect Suki's eyes to go wide and furious, or her hands to clench into tight fists on her dresser. "What?"

One day, Smellerbee was walking through the town square with a basket of pastries over her arm. She knew Longshot was working on helping some friends move their furniture into a new house, and she hoped to surprise him with a treat. As a boy, he would try to convince her sweets weren't his thing, but she knew he would crack when she took a big bite and waxed poetic on how delicious it was. He always cracked.
She caught a glimpse of him lifting a couch. His shirt was wrapped around his waist, and a bandana was keeping the sweat out of his eyes. He was smiling at something one of his companions was saying, and Smellerbee raised her hand to cat

AtLA AU -- Zue Arrangement
Yue saw that the girl was probably her age, but so different from her that it was almost stunning. This Fire Nation girl was sharp where Yue was soft, with dark hair and pale skin to contrast Yue's pale hair and dark skin. It was like looking into a strange mirror that showed reversals rather than reflections.
She also saw how her husband's hands clenched into tight fists when the girl walked in, and how the fire around his throne flared higher.
"Fire Lord Zuko," the girl intoned, kneeling before him.
"Lady Mai," her husband mumbled.
The girl looked up from her deference, her golden eyes glittering in the firelight. "It's an honor to see

I may make exceptions, but it's unlikely.
No smut. I'm just not very good at writing it, so it's not even worth asking for it.
Just... trust me. I'm lame at smut.

There was an article on Yahoo today about 'OMG Edward and Bella's big wedding scene LOL.' I wanted to ignore it, but my mom wants to take me to see the movie this year, so I felt I had to read it. I read some of the comments -- most of them were delightfully anti-Twilight -- and was again frustrated by all the people who were 'BAWW if you don't like the books/movies why do you read the article Y U BASHIN USSSS.'
I've tried to explain to my mom what I hate about the series, but she always cuts me down as being 'unreasonable.' I then try to explain that I want to be an English major and thus no amount of nitpicking is considered 'unreasonable.

I was just watching some AMVs and came across that scene right after Azula shoots Aang with lightning and Katara's done her epic wave over the Dai Li. Katara's holding Aang, who's lifeless and battered and burned... and she looks up at her attackers and just stares.
Like... why? Why would you do this to him? He's a little boy. He's my best friend. He's our last hope for peace. Why would you do this? How could you do this? It's as if she can't even comprehend the evil that's just happened right in front of her.
Nobody ever say Katara doesn't love Aang. Because this? This look of utter horror and despair on her face as she h
